![]() Poly finishes have improved vastly and are much better nowadays. A lot of the stigma associated with poly finishes comes from the guitars which were made decades ago. Poly finishes on the other hand are typically used on more affordable guitars, but that does not mean they are inferior, they are just cheaper to produce and better for the environment. Nitrocellulose finishes are more expensive to produce and are synonymous with high-end electric guitars, hence the reason why Gibson uses them. It's hard to say what electronic components are original or not, as the wiring is messy and there is a lot of extra solder on the backs of the pots. The other tone control, both volume controls, and the varitone switch are all wired up, but have no effect on the output or tone. What would normally be the bridge tone control is the only control that changes anything, and it actually raises the volume just a bit when it's rolled all the way off.
